My name is Rachel Shubin. I publish the Gymboree News & Gossip Column and run HiddenAuction.com. That little cutie I’m holding on the left there is Faith, our second youngest (pic’s from June 2006). Here’s a little bit about me:

Age: 33

Marital Status: Married to Handsome Hubby since March 1996

Kids: You have to ask? We have six, all born between October ‘98 and March ‘08. The oldest and youngest are boys, and the other four are girls.

Employment: You’re looking at it (well this and my other sites). Oh yes, plus six children.

Hobbies: What makes you think I have time for hobbies? Okay okay, in my copious spare time I like to read, shop, and watch movies. Happy now?

Location: We live in West Linn, Oregon which is a suburb of Portland. It’s lovely in the summer but rains for nine months in a row the rest of the year. Very grey.

Other boring tidbids: I’m a shrimp (5′2″ almost) and come from a family of scientists (dad, brother) and linguists (mom), which means I’ve seen a massive amount of dreadful sci-fi in between a few good ones and way too many Journey through Europe TV shows.

The Gymboree News Blog is a spinoff from the Gymboree News & Gossip Column, which is an email newsletter helping people finance their Gymboree habit by teaching them how to profitably sell their new or well loved Gymboree clothing on eBay (yes, it sounds crazy but this really does work).

The blog came about because it was a faster, more effective way to post reminders on the day a sale would start or a new line came out than running through the full email deal. With six kids, faster usually equates to more likely to get done.
